A Taste of Vietnam in Farmingdale - Rob Petrone
"The Rolling Spring Roll, on Farmingdale's Main Street, is a cozy, vibrant spot for dining in or taking out Vietnamese food. One of the first full-fledged Vietnamese eateries Long Island has had, it is here that everything is made to order, with the freshest ingredients."

About the Restaurant
The Rolling Spring Roll began when aspiring Vietnamese chef, Joe Bui decided to introduce the delicious and healthy food he grew up with to Long Island. Uncertain where he would find the best market for his cuisine, Joe started his business from a food truck. He opened for business on March 5, 2012 on Spagnoli Road in Melville, NY.
Many names were considered from his friends and family, but Joe decided he wanted to highlight the most famous of his mother’s recipes, the spring roll - a crunchy, finger-sized pork spring roll enhanced by vermicelli noodles, carrots and several Vietnamese spices. Since it would be served out of a truck, Joe anticipated he would be “rolling” around Long Island and the name “The Rolling Spring Roll” was born.
The success of The Rolling Spring Roll on Spagnoli Road was so great, that Joe never left that location. His approach to serve clean, healthy food – made fresh from scratch, gave his customers a delicious dining experience with unique flavors. After over a year of serving people on Spagnoli Road, Joe decided to open a full service restaurant. The Rolling Spring Roll, the FIRST Vietnamese restaurant on Long Island, opened on Main Street in Farmingdale on July 31, 2013.
The original “Rolling Spring Roll” truck is no longer rolling on Long Island. But as the story continues to unfold, Joe looks to one day re-launch several trucks to reach even more locations on Long Island. We think you’ll find the dishes at The Rolling Spring Roll amazing. As a fresh, healthy cuisine, you’ll find it to be something you’ll come back for time and time again. Many of our customers enjoy the food almost as much as we do.
